It's just that I've used the blue nylon yachting rope several times in real-world applications and it's always been stiff and inflexible with hard, rough edges. Not the sort of stuff you want for bondage at all.

Ah! I know the type you mean - very stiff and not at all useful for body ties.
Having done some sailing myself there are good ropes too (or should I say 'sheets' if we are being nautical? 😉 ) I am a fan of some of the thinner 'braided' nylon type that are both smooth and very flexible.

- simple elegance 
- now that's a serious hogtie!

- I have a real 'thing' for rope around the head, it's soooo sexy!

Great find in DeviantArt from a guy posting as Forestwolfdragon the following just do it for me:
All the images are awesome and the rope-work even better, but what I really like is that our damsel is always smiling 😁 How she can smile with those arm/elbow ties I simply don't know!!!!!
