Actually, I have a different sort of a use for it.
Not sure what it is yet, but I’ll wait for it to get here.

The name “Penis Pumper” or “Poke A Cock” comes to mind.

Which factors (regarding the material and form of the cage) should be taken into account to prevent discomfort, pain and irritation, if it is used for a long time? Hi princesitanatty,

no one answered, so I'll try as best I can.

It is a really difficult question to answer.... our anatomies are all different: sizes/proportions vary, grower vs. shower, circumcised or not etc.
Depends as well on the length of time you want to stay locked up and how easy and well ventilated they are and how easy it is to keep the cage/yourself clean.  It also depends on your expectations, your own self-discipline & how secure/inescapable you want the cage to be... though even more secure metal ring+cages with cylinder locks/padlocks can be defeated at the lock without too much trouble & most of the non metal ones simply cut/broken.

The cage length/width and the ring size are only part of the equation. The cage to ring angle and the amount of room between the base of the cage and the ring - aka the "ball-gap" to stop you from being able to slip through and still provide enough space without pinching - (I find) is really important as well. As others have noted, if there is a large space, simply going down in ring sizes may stop you from having slip through issues/possibilities by strangulation at the ring, but will cause pain/discomfort because the ring is then much too tight. Not a lot of cages offer ball-gap options. The Cherry-Keepers do, but many people here find them too insecure (they are 3d printed). For my intentions (I'm not motivated to defeat them with brute force), I prefer them since I can use a somewhat larger & more comfy ring with a narrower ball-gap that way. I had to buy a few different rings with different angles until I was able to find the right match for my anatomy. With cages which do not offer "ball-gap" options, normally the curved rings offer a bit more room at the bottom of the ring & the flat rings less - but a bit more on the upper part of the ring should any pinching be going on there - all on the same model/type cage (see the two solo Cobra clone pics below).

I personally find small/short cage sizes which mostly only hold the glans (I'm a grower & circumcised & somewhere between 7-8" erect) much more comfy (but not everyone does). They also do not have the issues with twisting and miss-alignment from growing and shrinking in the cage, things do not shift as much. As long as the fit is right, the growth from arousal should happen behind the ring inside of your body (you will notice it behind your balls & your perineum area will swell more than it normally does - this does not cause discomfort, but will be noticeable & put more pressure on your prostate & bladder & you will need to pee more often when it happens). Having the right fit helps stop the "giraffe" issues especially in the morning, where the cage is at the end of a struggling external erection and stretching your scrotum & testicles along with it - looks horribly comical and can be really painful. Snug cotton thongs or elastic chastity helper belts can also help avoid this. Small cages are also not noticeable under snug trousers.. with most small cages I can wear them in not overly thin stretchy woman's jeans in public without a padded cotton (gaff) thong discreetly. Larger cages I cannot, you get a noticeable "cage bulge" and graphic outline. With thinner summer  material, a padded gaff thong smooths things out (and stops any leaky spots if you have been caged/denied for a longer period... I at least tend to leak a bit more caged due to the added & changing pressure internally).

Stainless (some of the cheap ones are just nickel chromed metal, so caution) bar cages are definitely the easiest for keeping things clean and the material offers the least amount of skin friction. The down sides: They are a bit heavier (a snug thong helps here too) and, especially on the cheap ones, the cylinder lock is often exposed and will destroy delicate material, especially lace. If you can find one that fits you and is comfy they will last forever. Due to the thinner bars used, they often allow a bit more accessible skin contact than you may want to allow (see the LianaMore video in my post above). I find the ones with really thin bars uncomfy, too much pressure at the contact points.

Most of the other cages are resin/plastic/nylon/printed (I tried a silicone cage years ago and hated it, was also not breathable, a bit like wearing a really thick condom all day, so no other comments, landed quickly in the bin). These are lighter but less secure. The HolyTrainer (& clones) are generally more secure due to the material & construction (they have the cage insert inside of the ring and have a +/- (depending on the year/version) long tongue to keep things angled downwards a bit - unfortunately you can't really judge other ring sizes based on the fit of a HT ring due to the cage mounting system and the internal space required for it). But none of the HTs offer enough ventilation (imho) and you really need to/should remove them twice a day for a good wash & dry (after a day at work they can start to smell close up). A lot of other plastic cages also fully encase the penis with little air flow and also require removal for cleaning.  If you live with your key holder, that can be OK and offer a supervised ritual (with denial teasing 😉 ), which can be fun. Some people find that the cleaning is not a problem, but often they have longer cages (HT Standard/Maxi) where they do not fill out the cage completely when they are not excited and allows forcing soapy/clean water into the cage. With smaller cages that is normally not the case (HT Sizes Nano/Nub). The largest HT size I have ever bought is "Small" and I could force water into it a bit if the temperature was low enough, but it did not dry well afterwards 🤷🏻‍♀️. I still have 3-4 HT cages kicking about, I haven't worn them in years.

Due to the thicker material, the "plastic" bar cages normally allow less skin contact than the metal cages above and can be kept clean in most cases without removal. With the Cherry Keepers I find the size small or short (normal, the wide is also OK, mainly for the "short") the most comfy. These do have an issue though, the Cherry Keepers are a bit rougher than most other cages (and the colors fade quickly), this can be most noticeable with the ring and can cause some friction/irritation. There is a more expensive "egg-shell" finish option which is smoother, but a bit expensive if you are trying out multiple rings for different cage angles. You can just buy the normal white rings (and cages), sand them smooth & paint them with nail polish (UV cured nail polish I find works works best).

The Cobra (clones) offer less open air space and are a bit more difficult than bar cages to keep clean - I usually will not wear one for longer than two days max, without completely removing for cleaning. The Cobra types are fairly cheap though, come with four rings (curved or flat depending on the model) and can help you see what ring size/type suits you best and give you a rough idea what ball-gap size you require, and then use that info to look for a cage which suits you more closely if needed after wearing and getting used to it for a while.

Caution with many of the Cobra clones which are not one of the two smallest sizes. I have a couple of friends where they have fractured around the base of the cage... lots of sharp pointy bits .... I have never seen nor had that happen with the two smallest sizes.

With such inexpensive Cobra clones, you sometimes need to use a file to do what the non existent QA should not have missed. A small file with a rounded side (or a small rattail file and a nail file) is your friend.

- Wash the cage in hot water
- Make sure the two pegs which insert into the ring fit in the holes, you may have to file the pegs attached to the cage a bit around the perimeter if not. (When you put these cages on, make sure your skin does not get pinched here either, you usually don't make that mistake twice)
- Often the cylinder lock hole is a bit too tight or the part attached to the cage does not line up properly in the hole. Put the cage together and use the round(ed) file lightly until you can insert, lock, unlock and remove the lock again with the key.

I have a couple of flat and inne-cages, but they are more for short term fun. I also cannot wear a catheter attached to a cage for more than around 12-24 hours comfortably and these cages can get a bit more unpredictable when peeing without one (and some even with if not sized correctly).

"Are there models that also hide/hold the testicles"

I like having lots of air flow & have never tried the ones which cover the scrotum. I have also never tried one with the bar which goes between the testicles 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you aeady have a cage (uncomfortable I suspect  if you do due to the questions) check where it is uncomfortable and why, then try to find a different cage/ring that addresses those points. What those points will be will depend on your anatomy.

PS Edit: The padded cotton Gaff Thongs mentioned above can be found on amazon, aliexpress etc. The "cameltoe feature" fortunately does not work well. If you want to tuck without a cage, you may need to go down a size, for a small chastity cage your normal size should be correct:

I can't convert the picture at the moment, Just go to this page and scroll down: FRRK metal cages (there are more interesting things there, BTW)

Thank you so much for that post: not only very enlightening for those (like me), with no Chastity experience, but also written in a lovely, easy to read style.
Should become a reference for novices!

Good post by Iniga. I think that covers most of it.

Fairly new to chastity myself, but I went with a curved ring Cobra Clone similar to the second picture (slightly bigger cage, but was the smallest option at the time of buying). It's pretty comfortable for all day wear as long as I ensure my skin isn't chafing somewhere. I'm on the smallest ring size I could manage too, since anything bigger allows my to easily slip out of the cage.

The plastic has been fairly easy to clean and maintain so far, not sure about longevity. Good luck!
