DETECTIVES investigating a serious assault in Weston-super-Mare have appealed for a man dressed up in a red leotard carrying a Baywatch-style life-saver device to come forward.

It is believed the man in question and two other men may have walked by the Smiths Hotel in Knightstone Road on April 17, shortly after an assault at 3.18am.

The victim, aged 35, was assaulted outside Smith's hotel by a group of men, sustaining serious head injuries, which left him in a life-threatening condition.

He was taken to Frenchay Hospital but his condition is now improving and he is expected to be released from hospital within a week.

The victim was a holidaymaker from Chepstow staying at a nearby B&B but he was attacked while out walking with his partner.

Police say the man dressed in the red leotard and two other men are not suspects but may have vital information.

The three suspects are all white men, in their 20s and with short hair. The tallest was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact the incident room at Nailsea Police Station on 0845 456 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
Was he wearing just a leotard? Hm....
