From my point of view breathplay looks very hot in porn, but too dangerous to do alone. I will only go as far as wearing a gas mask when I am alone. At least I can safely experience some of the sensation of air restriction that way when I do not have a partner nearby.

I don't even do that. Far too riskey for me.

I agree with you, I have tried breathplay alone with self-bondage and of course I always have a way to "escape" in case something bad happens. But the sensation of not having air is unique for those who like it (without having serious consequences)

For a good 5 seconds, I thought the last one was also a gif that showed the reason you shouldn't play solo with vacbeds.
