Does anyone have any experience with the Peavey 40d glossy tights. How do they compare with the Danskin ultra shimmer tights?
Danskin no longer sell the ultra-shimmer range anyway (as far as I know) so it's all a bit of an academic question.
Capezio and Mondor have similar products. Which you prefer is up to you...
One of the question I always wanted to ask, but still haven't. Does anybody have any experience with Peavey and Tamara Hooters/Cheerleaders tights?

OK, I have asked now 😉

Sorry, Katria, no answer to your question.

Ultra shimmery tights are still available on the Danskin site: http://www.danskin.com/product/1331/Ultr...Tight.html and here http://www.onstagedancewear.com/PD-4373.aspx

So, they are still in production.

It wasn't meant to be academic, I am looking for a replacement for this Danskin so that is my point of reference. I've tried the Capezia tights and they are thin and cheap compared to the Danskin. Yes, they are selling the ultra shimmery again but only for little people, no plus sizes. I went ahead and ordered a pair to try.

Hm, never seen plus sizes. But I remember you mentioned them.

Ah, I see. I misunderstood you, sorry.

If you check the Danskin site you linked to they're only available in a few (small) sizes. It's all old end-of-line stock, they're not currently producing them.

From another dancewear site
Quote:Please Note: Danskin have recently being taken over and production of all their garments has been stopped for the foreseeable future. As such, we only have the sizes and colour combination listed below. Once these have gone, we will not be able to obtain any more.

The nearest alternatives to these tights are either the Mondor Ultra Shimmery Footed tights (where a high shimmer appearance is the most important factor) or the Capezio Hold & Stretch Light Sheen Stirrup Tights (where a stirrup style is the most important factor).

Katria, I'm surprised you found Capezio Shimmers 'thin and cheap'. I've always found them almost indistinguishable from Danskins. I made this comparison from promotional pics pic a while ago:

Here's the sad bit, illusion shattering time ☹ Hootersgirls now wear footless Tamara or Peavey hose.

Quote:Yes, we do wear the footless pantyhose. I apologize for bursting any pantyhose fantasies, but believe it or not, damn Hooters corporate went and placed their employees' practical needs and comfort ahead of your fantasy. So much for customer service, ya know?

One myth less... Pity, it was a good one.

Just in case the Hooters Girl blog ceased to exist (it's not updated frequently last year), reposting it here:

The reasons for the footless pantyhose are many. Footless pantyhose is much more durable than the pantyhose with the feet attached. Toes often get jammed through the pantyhose with feet, ripping them, and toenails snag easily. With footless pantyhose, the likelihood of your feet catching and tearing the hose is decreased. Footless pantyhose also provides a better fit for women with longer legs. A girl with proportionately long legs might have to stretch her nylons out more in order to make the crotch of the pantyhose with feet fit correctly, whereas with the footless kind, she can just wear the ankle band higher up her leg without stretching the nylons and making them weaker. Another positive aspect of footless pantyhose is that sweaty, smelly feet are much less likely. Cleaning pantyhose without the sweaty foot part is much easier, as well.
