What I mean is there are different virtual providers. Some of them give you a powerful managing GUI, so almost no IT knowledge is needed, but you do not have access to the actual operating system, the prices are higher and the performance is lower. Linode is exactly the opposite. It provides you with bare virtual metal, and you are almost on your own (there are instructions, of course). You have to install the OS, web-server software, PHP, etc. But it's much cheaper, faster and you can fine tune your plan. Plus you have almost unlimited traffic.
