I spoke with Alex the guy who makes these and got a great answer from him
"The standard way that I make it is with what is called a "cam lock" to secure the hands. However I could make it with "ladder locks" (which is what I use for all my self bondage gear) and that would allow the straps to be pulled tight by the wearer."
" The only difficulty would be getting out, but I think it would be very doable. You would just have to get the edge of the ladder lock against a door and lift up on it while pulling on the wrist. I think it would be quite feasible"
To get out of a ladder lock you could drill a small hole in the buckles Tab and thread a piece of paracord thorough it with a loop. Then you just need to hook it over something or a foot (depending on release direction) and pull to adjust the angle while wiggling your arms.
Very simple I would have thought.

Nice kit.... Definitely looks like self bondage material.
Not sure how good it would be to sleep in afterwards... I think the straps would pull on your wrists/tendons and make them sore after a while ?
(I've spent many nights tied up in straitjackets)
I Like the design... poly strap is slippery stuff so shouldn't be to much of a problem to get out.
Since this post popped up I've swapped a few messages with Alex too. Last night she was working on making the crotch male friendly. Apparently a prototype of this version is made, but photos are yet to be uploaded to the new 'selfbondage straight jacket' listing on etsy as she wanted to get some sleep or something!! 😉

Yeah definitely need 2 straps for male friendly and it is better if they cross behind your "gear".
Straps that don't cross dig in round your legs.

The photos of the male crotch version are now on the listing.
In the discussions with Alex there was explanation as to how the vertical forearm loop adjusted, but the range must be quite limited with the male crotch.
I've asked to see a laid flat photo to try to get an idea of the way it will work.
