Sleeping in Bondage

An interesting question has occurred to me.  Has anyone here ever deliberately spent the night in their bondage?  How safe is it?  Is it unsafe to fall asleep in an armbinder, a straitjacket, a gag, a full hood, etc...?  Perhaps, you slept in more severe bondage positions.  Or, it could have been as simple as spending the night in a pair of ballet boots.

Back in my younger days, I often went to bed in my leather corset (which I still have).  It is a men's bondage corset, with no front-busk opening.  It took some time to wriggle it past my hips, as it was obviously designed to be put on with "help".  It also felt designed more for "punishment" than comfort.  Luckily, cinching the laces by myself, proved surprisingly easy.  The first night that I tried this, I did not get much sleep.  However, once I got used to it, I began to wear it to bed twice a week, every week.  As I drifted off to sleep, during that brief moment when my mind was open to suggestion, I would tell myself that the corset had been locked, and that I would not be released until morning.  This often led to some interesting erotic dreams.

Surely, I can't be the only one who has tried something like this.  Anyone else have stories to share?
Once went to bed in balletboots. Was a rather special experience. In particular when I got cramp in one of my feet. There was nothing I could do, but fortunately the cramp went away after a while. In the end that was rather positive. But I cannot say that I slept very much. I have not repeated.
Tried pretty much everything. Bound, gagged, plugged, caged, mummified, single-gloved, sacked, spread-eagled, hypnotized, stimulated, enamaed, whatever. I could even fall asleep from time to time...

I think we should have threads on it...

I've tried sleeping in bondage, but the closest I've ever got was a semi-doze - I've always been too excited/aroused to really fall asleep.

I have slept many times wearing tights and a leotard, but never in a hood, plugged, corset, gag, blindfold or anything that was 'restrictive'.

The only exception to this has been my very recent experiences of sleeping whilst in a chastity cage - now that was a revelation!

Like @Like Ra wrote, I know we've posted on this subject before - wish I could remember where.

Sleeping in high heels, ballet boots, various fetish clothes is nothing special. Sometimes I get too hot, sweat, and I wake up, undress and go back to sleep.

I did chastity cages and belts. Sleeping was no problem, unless the cage had spikes - that would wake me up very early in the morning.

I also did spreadeagle in bondage with timer for 6 hours. Can't sleep much, but I do it every time I'm alone.

I couldn't sleep at all with masks and gags, not even thin pantyhose masks.

Recently in my late 20s I spent almost every night trying to hogtie myself, although, most of the times I failed. On rare occasions when I managed to secure myself, I could only last about 30 min before tapping out with safety hooks or scissors.

Sleeping in an armbinder? No chance, that is a very unnatural position to have your arms in, it promotes very poor blood flow. Even if you manage to get some sleep your arms would suffer from cyanosis after a few minutes, don't even think about hours, that could potentially cause gangrene. Big no, no for me.

My desire to sleep bounded started very young, in fact, I can't even recall the first time I fantasized about it.

Throughout my teens I would spend some nights wishing to be fully bound, and I would usually roll myself up inside a thick blanket and spend the night that way.

I once slept wearing 5 body shapers at the same time, I could barely breathe in and it was crazy hot, so not the best of experiences but I managed to fall asleep. Some time later I bought my first corset and of course I had to sleep wearing it, sadly it wasn't what I imagined, I slept very poorly that night and woke up pretty beaten, bad back pain, acid reflux, and the worst peeing sensation ever, so that was the end of it.

I like tight bondage positions, but when it comes to sleeping I prefer extremely mild bondage or the good old roll-up in a blanket method.
I've slept bound more than a few times, but never gagged (too much risk).

When I was a live in maid, Contessa put me in bondage for the night a few times

What was the experience like?
Don't get me wrong, everyone---I'm not condoning any dangerous practices.  This question was mostly for reference in writing erotic fiction.  I figured that the more extreme items like armbinders and hoods would be out-of-the-question for sleeping.  Still, I have had little-to-no experience with such items (unfortunately).  So, I thought it best to get a second opinion.  I would also like to thank Purple Vibes for sharing the hard time-limit on armbinders.  That info is invaluable.

Which brings up my second question on this subject:  In a fantasy story, what level of overnight bondage would require too great a suspension of disbelief?  For example, in a story, a slave is bound for the night, as punishment for some transgression.  When does it stop being erotic, and become total BS?  When is the disclaimer of "unsafe/dangerous practices" no longer enough.  I am, of course, talking about stories with real-world bondage items---nothing involving magic or alien tech (which is a whole-different genre, where anything  is possible).

To answer another question, yes, I was concerned with safety when I first slept in my leather corset.  For that reason, on that first night, the corset was little more than "snug".  During future nights, over the next year-or-two, I gradually increased the tightness.  But, I never went to bed with it "brutally tight".
Pantyhose single-glove (also a kind of armbinder) is quite comfortable for sleeping.
