I'm having an issue with RS. No matter what I config it keeps saying DHT isn't working. DHT and DNS are yellowed out.
I've never heard of RS until now so I did some research on the issue. There aren't any recent public threads I can find online explaining what could be causing that or how to fix it. I read on an old post here that it might have to do with the number of friends I have, that I need several hundred for it to work properly? I have 35 right now. I think I understand that the system effectively attempts to establish a private encrypted subnet running over the main internet using tor as a backbone meaning the more friends you have the more robust the network is and the higher your speeds theoretically. Very interesting concept, I just wish the stupid thing actually worked lol. I've also tried switching from public discovery to dht only, I've tried switching to port forwarding and setting a port rule on my wifi router with tcp and udp enabled, and several other things. From what I can tell the program is seeing the network properly but since the DHT isn't working it can't actually connect to any nodes.
I also read on reddit something about ipv4 addresses having issues cus something something ISPs something something. Maybe if I purchase a dedicated IP address I can get it to function? Has any1 else encountered these issues and know how to fix it? Thanks!
