Many items at ebay come directly from China.

There was an article on the BBC some time ago about how some people earn a lot of money by looking on ali for cheap things and then advertising them with a hefty markup on ebay. Only once they receive your money, they order it in China and have it sent directly to your address.

eBay vs Aliexpress for the same products:

= Same manufacturers
= Same sellers
= Same location
= Same shipping + delivery time
= Both return money should something go wrong
+ Ali has (usually) more information and much more photos about the product (I have no idea why)
+ Ali has a much better customer feedback system per product
+ Ali is cheaper

So, my choice is quite clear: I go to eBay only if I can't find something on Ali. Also, on Ali you can find non-Chinese made stuff: think of Korea, Japan, Thailand, Vietman, etc.

For the rest, eBay is a winner, since it's got stuff from all around the world.
