How to download YouTube (age restricted) videos

I have been using "Any Video Converter" to download YT videos.  However, AVC cannot bypass the age restriction---it gives an "analysis failed" error.  I have VLC, and use it quite often.  However, I have not tried it for download purposes.  Can it bypass the YT age restriction?

I believe that the overriding question in this thread is how to bypass the YT restriction, without giving YT/Google your personal info (which they will undoubtedly sell to others).

I don't have a youtube account & don't want one.. both work fine for that.
