Restaurant chain Hooters files for bankruptcy to enable buyout

According to another source they apparently intend moving the franchise towards a more 'family-friendly' image.

It was bad enough when they abolished the slouch socks and introduced the new-style shorts, let's hope the Peavey/Tamara hose don't go the same way.

In general, "fetishes" are not that "popular" anymore. Or they have transformed into another form...
One of the things I collect are Restaurant uniforms and costumes.
I have 4 of their uniforms, complete with the little carrying bag I they wore.
Dolphin shorts, Tank tops, pantyhose and os course the little black bag.
That black bag is actually an order form thingy for drinks and stuff

Oh, the little bag thing is an essential part of the waitress look, it's somewhere to store the bvibe control 😉

I think I would like to challenge and comment on that statement.

We happy forum folk has our fetishes and they are of the sexual kind, at least that's my conclusion from reading many, many posts here.

But a fetish is also defined as " an excessive and irrational devotion or commitment to a particular thing: " - which is how I've always understood it, and how it classically was used. I.e. the native North American totem pole was a fetish object to European western eyes, as were many of the worshiped Asian idols (I don't judge - merely observe).

So, folks today, apparently, are less likely to have a sexual fetish about, say, tights or latex or PVC. But, a simple 5 minute observation of any crowded train or public area would offer strong evidence that they still have fetishes.

What does it seem that (almost) everyone is devoted to, with an irrational commitment?

Their mobile/cell phones! Or, to be more specific, some App or another which is running on their device.

Heads down, eyes fixed on the tiny screen, fingers tip-tapping away.

Unable to restrain themselves from another look, message, game, photo, post, whatever.

Every morning, waking up and reaching for their 'smart' (ha!) device and checking up/in, even before a morning cuppa!

And then staying awake in bed, late into the evening, face bathed in the screen's glare.

If that isn't a fetish then I don't know what is!

Just saying.....  😁

MJ

Ps. I've very happy with my fetishes.

Pps. A thought, does my observation mean that anyone not intently focused on a tiny screen in their hand is actually a 'normal' fetishist, preferring to spend their time focusing on tights, latex, rubber, frillies, crossdressing, gas-masks, leather and such? Now there's a very intriguing idea... 😉

For what it's worth, my 2 cents observation;

The masses nowadays are so obsessed trying to look "Classy", "Elegant", "Age-appropriate", "Chic", "Wearable" etc.
as the 'good fashion doctor' online influencers tell them to.

And yet, these same societies, couldn't be any LESS classy these days, their expressions - especially online -
are as vile as it gets.
And yet, they try to pin the vice on any deviant lifestyles and personal fashion expression, stigmatizing it as "inappropriate dressing" with their "Classy" narrative. So the 'fetish' guy gets labeled a dirty 'gay' or a 'perverted predator'.

On topic regarding Hooters; I've been to the US so many times for extended stays, but never visited a Hooters.
I dunno, always gave me Benny Hill vibes.

Aaaaand we even have a dedicated thread about it: https://www.likera.com/forum/mybb/showth...p?tid=2299
Aaaaand I have my "personal" definition (https://www.likera.com/forum/mybb/Thread...8#pid30058):

I define "fetish" as a stable (usually addictive) mental and/or sensory stimulus resulting in a "dopamine surge" (in other words - pleasure).

So, even food is a fetish, because it's addictive, it creates a dopamine surge, and we mostly eat because it brings pleasure, not because we need it THAT much.
