Painted backdrops, over the top acting, an evil villain and a damsel in distress. I can see flashes of it aeady in my mind, I'm going to let it ripe a bit and will give a try. Maybe some piano background music, I'll see if the music makes it better or not. Do I need to find an excuse to upgrade my laptop? that sort of thing. I used a laptop and a pc. The laptop is this one, it came out in 2009, I got it for free when a friend upgraded, this was her "old old laptop" and it was not being used for a long time. I swapped out the slow hard disk for a fast ssd and put Ubuntu Linux on it. It's now my main laptop, 4 GB of ram, Intel Core2Duo CPU P7450 @ 2.13GHz. The screen resolution is a bit low at 1366x768, sometimes I can't click "OK" in a settings menu because it's off screen. It does boot in under 20 seconds and programs load lightning fast so that's nice. The pc is one build around a Pentium G2020, I bought it second hand together with a motherboard and some memory for 40€. The pc has 12GB ram I scraped together from old pc's and ebay, a cheap ssd and a large HD for storage. Also Linux on this one. I can confidently say I can build a new pc for less than 500€ that has more power than these two combined, MediaMarkt even had a promo on a laptop for 499€ that's more powerful than what I have but I'm working with the budget I have. So sorry, no need to upgrade your laptop 😉 Or maybe you should and then you can put Linux on the old one and join the penguin force. The software: in true Linux spirit I used free and open source software ffmpeg: As my pc and laptop are to slow to play back my footage at full speed (Full HD @ 50 fps) I extract the frames of the parts I need and dump them as png's in a folder per cut. This takes a lot of space but gives best quality. I have also used mencoder but while working with both I found ffmpeg a bit better. Audacity: This is for the sound (which I didn't use in this example :p ), I just open the movie file with Audacity and it of course only handles the audio. Then I select the bits I need or the corresponding audio part for the part I extracted the frames from so I can later merge them again in a video editor. Natron: This is a node based editor and that way of working was completely new to me a few months ago. Natron looks a lot like The Foundry's Nuke, so much in fact that you can use Nuke tutorials to teach you Natron. I'm using Natron because it's free (and open source) and it works. Documentation is seriously lacking and some of the best tutorials on Youtube are in French (which I speak) but there are also some English, Spanish and Portuguese ones. But as I said, just watch the Nuke tutorials, even the icons are the same. I use this to do per scene special effects, filters and colour grading. The logo part in the video was composited in Natron, I started with a video of me standing with the spreader bar, took out the background with Natron, applied some colour correction and grading, then composited against the ANNE drawing I did in Krita and animated it a bit with a transform node. Natron can output in a variety of formats including a sequence of png's for best quality. Krita: I used Krita to draw the pink text in my logo. With the Wacom Bamboo tablet I have I can draw free hand with a pen. This is a great program and I will be using it a lot in the future, it can do animations as well and by using layers it's easy to experiment. Drawing some backdrops feels even a bit therapeutic 😊 Kdenlive: Unlike Natron this is a linear video editor, most people will find this easier to work with. In theory this can do special effects as well but the truth is that this is the realm of the node based editor. Linear video editors shine when it's time to put all scenes together, add some sound effects and transitions. When nothing special is needed I use the build in effects to generate titles or apply some colour grading. It all depends as there is no hard line on when to use node based an when linear. If I need something on the entire videotrack like a vignette or a colour filter then I do it with Kdenlive, modifications per scene I usually do in Natron. Kdenlive reads image sequences as if it were a video and does so very fluently. I think you can run all these on Windows as well but I heard the Kdenlive build for Windows is kinda crap, luckily Windows users can use Movie Maker or something. Software is just a tool, you need to find a workflow you are comfortable with. I do most of the planning ahead in my mind so I now upfront I will need these and these images for that or that scene etc, I dump to png's that I need, apply the effects that I want and then stitch it all together. If you need one big program that does everything so you can screw around then this way of working might not be for you. I like the one program per task philosophy. Thanks! 😊 (23 Jan 2017, 16:13 )madjack Wrote: The device on your back was, I assume, some ice-lock SRD set-up? Is it home made, do you have details (I'm sure you mentioned it in other posts, but I can't remember the details). How long did it take to release or did you struggle out before then? I could see that you had a good attempt at getting free, which is half the fun! It is indeed an ice lock for time release. The rest of the set-up is this rope ratchet in a pvc tube. The tube is there to prevent me from reaching the release hatch, it's to narrow to fit both the ratchet and a finger. This weekend I will take some pictures to explain this in detail. Depending on the amount of force I can use on it I can get it to release in less than 30 minutes but it can also take more than 2 hours. I did not manage to struggle out of the ropes but I was able to get to the kitchen and grab a pair of scissors. This Monday I'll make it harder. I've been tempted to try the same with my own high-heeled boots, but always held back as I didn't think the heels would take the strain (images of wondering into the local cobblers with a size 12 boot and asking them to repair the broken heel - how embarrassing Blush ) I'm not sure about the strain, heels are not made to handle any lateral forces but it felt solid to me. Cobblers won't mind, what are they going to say? 3 weeks ago I walked into a Decathlon near by and bought 5 onepiece swimsuits and a bikini from the discount rack, nobody cared. Just have a quick look around if you see somebody you know. I used to wear black but think about it, black is considered "safe", it's neutral, it goes with everything, it's something you pick when you don't dare. Even the "little black dress" is bullshit, ladies that wear dark blue or dark any colour will look better. Bright colours radiate confidence, it makes for an interesting scene and you will feel more self-conscious when you wear them. To add colour just add colour 😊 (23 Jan 2017, 16:13 )madjack Wrote: You also have achieved a very 'feminine' look, which I find very fetching - you naughty tease! Wink Must be the lighting or camera angle 😁 Or the tight corset underneath, the hip and butt padding and my hopeless make-up skills. I want to lose 5-6kg as well as my bmi is now over 25, luckily most of it is muscle. I work out my legs pretty hard, my thighs have some good volume because of it and that helps the feminine look if I pad my hips a bit. I'll make a dedicated thread for the ice lock / ratchet in a tube. This session was just a frogtie with ballet heels, stockings, leotard and ball gag. This was a long post, I'm very tired after my week away so I'll reread this tomorrow to see if it makes sense 😁 (27 Jan 2017, 20:44 )Anne Wrote: 4 GB of ram, Intel Core2Duo CPU P7450 @ 2.13GHzI think it can be upgraded to 8GB and Core 2Duo eBay: T9900 @3.06 (what I did with my almost 8yo laptop). $50 is the lowest price at the moment. 1 extra GHz does make a difference. I'm not sure if I can swap the cpu, I've seen laptops where it is soldered on. On my Asus VX1 I had to replace the entire motherboard and that was a major pain in the butt. This laptop runs rather hot as well so I'm not going to upgrade to a faster cpu. It does support 8GB I'll see if it's worth it. The Samsung EVO ssd I have put in is one I can take to my next laptop or pc so that was a sensible upgrade. It's also one of those "everything in one program" things, I prefer to use one dedicated program for every step in my workflow so I can pick the best tool for the job. Blender does have a good video editor but I like Kdenlive more for that. I do use blender for some 3D modeling but I'm still learning, I'd like to use it for some backgrounds or items in my videos. I'll check for more ram though, that is easy. (28 Jan 2017, 20:53 )Anne Wrote: I'll check for more ram though, that is easy.Yes, you definitely need more memory if you work with video. And you've got a separate GPU. Oh, your laptop has DDR3, so it's even cheaper! eBay: DDR3 sodimm 2x4gb $50... |
