2-day stats

TotalIn: 13 GB
TotalOut: 23 GB

13GB in? How come?

RE: IPFS - Anne - 06 Feb 2019

Seems to be a common complaint:

"If you run a public facing node, it will serve up all blocks it has downloaded on request. Unfortunately, even if you haven't downloaded anything, you'll still be constantly bombarded with wantlists and download requests."

I'm not sure how to throttle or configure it so it generates less traffic.

I got some mails from my hoster saying I need to add more ram or stop swapping or they will terminate my server so I have IPFS disabled for now, will enable it for a few days when I add new content.

Just checked - IPFS daemon takes some RAM, CPU and bandwidth indeed. Definitely not the most effective protocol ๐Ÿ˜

Try Bitchute ๐Ÿ˜‰

RE: IPFS - Anne - 18 Feb 2019

I have just read this article and it illustrates why somehting like IPFS is needed. It sure takes more resources than my cheap vps is allowed to use but if we want content to be freely available without fear of being censored it is exactly what we need.

Sure it does not work as smoothly as it could but that's why developers, like myself, are working on stuff to make it as easy as possible.

Sites that are safe now might just delete our content in the future, tumblr used to be safe, vimeo is kicking users, youtube banned me,...

Interesting article. Thanks. Deserves its own thread.

Quote:Whatever the algorithm is feeding you, thatโ€™s what youโ€™re going to be watching,โ€
Very true.

Quote:But what does this do for our desires? Just as social media algorithms can amplify political viewpoints by creating feedback loops, algorithmic commissioning also has the power to strengthen kinks. Incest role-play, for example, has been called the fastest-growing trend in porn, but to what extent has this been amplified by the MindGeek system? If the company identifies a trend and then makes more clips in that vein and promotes those videos, does it make the subject desirable to people who might not be searching for it in the first place? (Pornhub was contacted about this article but declined to comment.)
