I just tried the method of taping one's hands (just the hands) using the method from that video. (Except I used duct-tape instead of whatever the guy used.) It is surprisingly simple and effective. I took it a bit further and made them into fists, and wore pantyhose on the hands.
And I can confirm what the person explains in the comments: Eventual and inevitable sweating seems to completely nullify the adhesive power of the tape, which is the key to freeing oneself from that cocoon. So too did my tape-mittens eventually simply slip off my hands with gentle tugging with my feet.

EDIT: After a moment, I observed that the adhesive surface in the mittens was not really damaged. It was just the sweat that made it not stick to my hands. So I cut the mittens a little bit more open with scissors, inserted my dry hands again in them, and applied duct tape generously to secure the mittens to my hands and to ensure that the shape ends up being round and that there's no wiggle room. I held the duct tape roll with my feet or knees to do this. This ended up being a very robust pair of mittens that lasted for over three hours through all kinds of play, and can likely still be reused. (However, unlike what I did here, the original method was simple enough to be doable without having to move around trying to manipulate a roll of tape.)

Observations:
- In the pantyhose straitjacket technique, it does not really matter whether the hands are in mittens or not. It pretty much feels the same. (It may actually feel a bit better, because the exerted fabric is not chafing against the hands.) It may make escaping marginally more difficult, but not much.
- Pulling socks over the hands turned out to be impossible.
- Pulling pantyhose over the arms is laborsome with the fists tightly packed into a potato shape with no protrusions, but with the aid of my teeth (bad idea) and toes (good idea), I was able to pull three pairs of nude pantyhose over the arms and back the neck, and to pull the slack so that the arms were wrinkleless. Over that, I wore just a regular long-sleeve shirt. From the sleeves, appeared two stubs where hands should be. The appearance was exciting and just as though the hands were amputated, even down to the "seam". It was very different from just wearing pantyhose on unmittened hands and pulling the slack, because now the fingers were factually incapable of moving. There was no possibility of showing any movement of fingers through the mitten and the fabric. Removing the pantyhose also posed some challenge, because with round stubs it's hard to get grip of an edge of a fabric that is tightly pressed against the skin.
- I tried sleeping. It was not possible for some reason. I never seem to be able to sleep while bound.

No photos of the session, sorry, but below is a picture of the mittens after I cut my hands out from them. It is not seen in the photo, but they contain an internal "sleeve" for the fingers, because they were originally made for straight hands, later compressed into a fist shape.

EDIT: I just had to try it again, just to check that indeed, the mittens are reusable. :-) This session went for maybe two hours. Finally, I took a shower with all this on: seven layers of pantyhose on legs, a belt tightly securing them (I put those on before the hands were taped, because I could not do it afterwards); hands tightly duct-taped into stumps as explained above; a pair of pantyhose on arms, and a t-shirt. Plus some extras underneath that I omit for brevity. I began the session with my legs in a monosock (pantyhose) as well, but I removed that part at some point.
Well, who would have guessed that removing the pantyhose from the arms (without fingers or toes to assist it with) while it's wet is more difficult than when it's dry :-) I was happy with this session.
The only problem now is that the skin of my hands has taken quite a beating today and I wonder how longlasting the signs of it are (in days).
