When I first saw these advertisements I thought of a some kind of bondage devices to keep the kids (or their hands) in place. And when my eyes quickly scanned the descriptions (apparently missing some words) they appeared to be even more misleading:

“… keep the children neatly … whether they are at school or at play. Helps them to learn to … and save your time… Strong elastic and non-elastic web … Known throughout the nation for quality. Will not slip off shoulder. A positive way of keeping their stockings up. Helps teach children to be neat. …. Kazoo for boys… Acts as a body brace … Growing girls should wear … that will prevent the shoulders from drooping. … Age 4 to 16 … “

Straps, braces, buckles, body harnesses, stockings … “Wow!”, I thought, “looks like the Sweet Gwendoline’s training! Did I miss this fetish bondage experience in my childhood?”

French maids are often depicted wearing extremely high heels or bound, what (logically thinking) would affect their ability to perform their duties. In some cases high heels do help (squatting, for example, is easier if you are wearing heels), but bondage never helps much (only one exception comes to my mind – a proper gag decreases the amount of noise).

If maids do not perform (how can you perform if your hands are bound?) they are punished. The punishment usually includes more bondage and tight fetish clothes (corsets, latex, hoods), what further diminishes the maids performance.

To continue the colour theme. Look how high the heels are. She can barely stand on them. But the shoes do not look like they have extremely high heels.

Lots of frustration come from not being able to put pantyhose on properly. I hope this tutorial will help a bit. This is still a draft. Please let me know what you think, what should be changed or updated.

Updated: just added two more points. While it may look obvious for you, it’s not obvious for others ;-)

This is what Wiki says about “maids”:

A maidservant or in current usage maid is a female employed in domestic service. Maids perform typical domestic chores such as cooking, ironing, washing, cleaning the house, grocery shopping, walking the family dog, and taking care of children.

Many maids are required by their employers to wear a uniform.

A bit more about the uniform:

French maid refers to a strongly modified style of servant’s dress that evolved from typical maids’ black and white afternoon uniforms of the nineteenth century (and their later use by stereotypical characters in risqué burlesque dramas of the bedroom farce variety). The designs of the French maid dress can range widely from a conservative look to very revealing. It is now often associated with cosplay, sexual roleplaying, and fetishism. Depending on design details, some forms can be classified as lingerie.

I would add that French maid uniform looks very similar to the old Soviet school uniform. (See this post and this) No wonder that the latter has also formed a strong fetish.

Another missing post. Milla Jovovich in an ad-campaign for TSUM Moscow. I can’t tell if she’s wearing latex pantyhose or stockings (I think stockings, though, but prefer to think of tights) but the latex garment blends so smoothly and naturally with the rest of the clothes, so I can’t imagine it being replaced with “plain” nylons or even … nothing.

Note the different colours (e.g white latex is a very unusual material in the fashion world), transparent latex stockings with black back seams, red latex stockings with very sheer black nylon ones worn on top and transparent opera length latex gloves. (See? Black latex stockings are already considered usual and normal ;-)

By the way, no latex is mentioned in the clothes description. Bad…

Note how latex lingerie and latex clothing in general have evolved from “standard” sex-shop-next-door-look inner-tube-like dusty rubber to chic, expensive and publicly wearable pret-a-porte latex collections. I don’t mean exclusive unique state-of-the-art latex clothes made for special events, like this one, for example.

Summer Darkness (“a dark underground interdisciplinair festival”) took place in the gothic centre of Utrecht from Aug 05 to Aug 09. I managed to get to Domplein only on the last day – Sunday. Now I know that I should’ve found more time to enjoy the very special atmosphere! A sea of positive emotions, smiles and “courteosity” everywhere, more photographers than goths, and, of course, the clothes styles varying from pinky flowery anime to vampires and dark medieval wizards and witches.

However – no latex. Pantyhose, stockings new and laddered worn everywhere and on all body parts – yes. Shiny vinyl – yes. Latex-wet-look lycra – yes. Velvet and leather – yes. Corsets and super high heeled boots – yes. But no latex. Actually, latex is way more expensive and much less practical… But still…

Anyway, I made 350 photos within just a few hours. I’m still post-processing them. This is the first part.
